Congratulations to Prof. Andrew Decelis (Institute for Physical Education and Sport, University of Malta) and team on the official launch of their latest initiative entitled "FitMAP Malta—Fitness Monitoring of Adolescents" project. This national fitness monitoring project was successfully launched at a press conference on March 17th, and addressed by the Minister for Education, Youth, Sport, Research and Innovation of Malta. The event was featured on the national news of the main TV station, a private one, and all the local news portals, including several local radio programmes.
Child and adolescent fitness data is currently being collected in 6 Maltese schools by 12 trained physical education (PE) teachers and should be ready by the end of May, following the FitBack Network's international model for establishing one's own fitness monitoring programme. A published article with instructions is available HERE for interested readers. The FitMAP Malta project also has scope to complete two focus groups with the PE teachers to evaluate the project.
